Hannah Gichie

After studying in Somerset and then London, I moved back to Somerset - my home County - and worked in hospitality before taking on gardening full time. My passion for the outdoors and the importance of children having access to nature, especially whilst at school, drove me to join the OPAL working group at Castle Cary Primary School, where two of my children attend.

It was a joy to be a part of developing the children's outdoor experience, which in turn led me to becoming a Parent Local Advocate at the school.

Having taken on a role as Matron at a boarding house of another local school, I realised my passion of working with children and in particular, the additional needs of SEND pupils.

This led me to my current link role within Castle Cary Primary Local Advocate Board. Working with and supporting the staff in this area is a truly rewarding experience.

I also have a passion for music, and enjoy running a music lunchtime club at the school. My hope is to make music more accessible for all, including SEND pupils, catering for all additional needs.
