Sarah Houghton

I taught in primary education for 40 years, firstly in London then in Essex, Cambridgeshire and finally near Poole. I have been a staff governor and then, after my retirement, a governor at Spetisbury School, Dorset. We moved to Castle Cary three and a half years ago and I have been hearing readers, in school, once a week, for the last three years.

In my spare time I enjoy visiting art galleries with my husband and belong to the local Looking at Art group. I am a keen reader and have been a member of the same Reading Group for 25 years. I also sing with Wincanton Choral Society, love gardening, watching cricket, looking after our grandchildren and walking my two dogs.

I am delighted to be an advocate for the school which holds such an important place in our thriving community.
